St Peter’s Vauxhall is centrally located electronic trading platform and one of the most beautiful and well-preserved Victorian churches in London. The church has exceptional acoustics and is a perfect venue in which to enjoy music. We foster a vibrant and active music programme that combines regular choral evensongs, special choral services at Christmas and Easter, and an annual summer music festival.
St Peter’s has one of the most extraordinary musical heritages of any church in London. The church was built on the site of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens,electronic trading platform in India with the altar positioned directly above the gardens’ Neptune Fountain. Between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries the gardens had served as one of London’s main musical venues – Handel, J.C.Bach and Mozart all performed here. We hope to explore and celebrate this exceptional legacy while developing and perpetuating our own musical tradition.
We posses a fine and unaltered T.C. Lewis organ which has been at the centre of our musical life since 1870. We are currently raising money to restore this instrument to give it another century or so of life.
